Boyana Church

UNESCO World Heritage site with medieval frescoes

Boyana Church is a medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church situated in the Boyana quarter. The church is one of the most completely and perfectly preserved monuments of east European medieval art, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. The church is famous for its 13th-century frescoes, which are considered masterpieces of Bulgarian and European medieval art.
