Pancharevo Mineral Bath

Soak in warm mineral waters, unwind in peaceful surroundings, and restore body and mind in Pancharevo

The healing properties of the mineral water in the area of present-day Pancharevo were already known to the Thracians and Romans. After conquering the Macedonian Kingdom, the Romans established a military camp nearby and were the first to build a bath complex at this location, featuring seven pools. During the Ottoman period, the area was also renowned for its mineral waters, and the Turkish baths (hammams) in what is now Pancharevo were among the most visited. In its current form, the bath was completed in 1945, built on old Roman foundations. The mineral water source has two springs: one located at the bottom of Pancharevo Lake, on whose shore the bath stands, and another spring emerging right next to the bath building. Nearby, there are public fountains where people can collect mineral water.

The bath was renovated in 2017 and is clean and very well maintained. It has two separate sections (men’s and women’s), each with two mineral pools. Bathing is done nude, without swimsuits. One pool has a temperature of 42°C, and the other is 37°C. Each section is equipped with 6 showers and twice as many seated basins (kurnas). Additional services include family bathtubs and hydromassage tubs, where visitors can use essential oils and mineral salts—recommended both for relaxation and therapeutic purposes (available for purchase on site).

The bath is about a 25-minute drive from the center of Sofia, or approximately 1 hour by public transport.
