Halloween Festival HORRORWOOD

On 31 October 2026, Boyana Film Studios in Sofia hosts HORRORWOOD, the fourth edition of Sofia's Halloween Festival by Fest Team. The idea is a film studio that has gone out of control. When the shooting day ends, the sets come alive and the characters step off the screen. The event mixes film, myth and Bulgarian folklore, with activities for kids, teens and adults. It has become a Halloween tradition for families in Sofia.

Program and Time Slots

The festival runs in three separate slots, and each slot has its own full program:

11:00 – 14:00
14:30 – 17:30
18:00 – 21:00

Bulgarian singer MONA performs in the second and third slots. The evening slot also includes the costume parade, one of the highlights of the festival. Prizes include a voucher for two free costume rentals, valid for one year, from Carnival for You.

Two Themed Zones

Monstertown (New York Backlot) – family zone. The monsters here are friendly and funny. Kids meet characters from their favourite films, including Jack Skellington and Sally, the Addams Family, the Hotel Transylvania crew, Casper, Coco's Miguel and Dante, Beetlejuice, the Ghostbusters and Frankenstein. There are 10 stops along the way, each with a stamp and a treat or small gift. A completed passport earns a special prize at the exit.

The Underworld – 16+ zone. This zone is darker and dedicated to Bulgarian folklore horror. The film sets turn into a world of creatures from Bulgarian myths and legends, which feel much closer to local nightmares than to Hollywood monsters.

Activities for Kids and Teens (Ages 3–16)

The festival includes:

More than 10 inflatable attractions
Themed face painting and hair braiding
VR experiences and escape rooms
Art workshops
Paintball
A KPop Demon Hunters neon party
Children's theatre and cinema

All activities are included in the ticket, with no extra charges. Access depends on each attraction's capacity and works on a first-come, first-served basis.

HORRORWOOD Tickets

Tickets are available at ticketstation.bg:

Single tickets and family tickets for up to five people are available. Family tickets come in flexible combinations, such as two adults and a child, one adult and two children, or grandparents with a grandchild.
Children under 3 enter free, but they need a free ticket reserved on Ticket Station.
Costume discount: anyone who buys a ticket by 20 October gets 10% off a costume at Carnival for You.
Where to Stay in Sofia for Halloween

Boyana Film Studios is in the Boyana district at the foot of Vitosha Mountain. It is easy to reach from central Sofia by taxi or car. If you are visiting Sofia for the Halloween weekend, a hotel in the city centre or in the quieter Boyana and Dragalevtsi areas works well. You can also add the nearby Boyana Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or a walk on Vitosha.
