Ivan Vazov National Theatre

Bulgaria's oldest and most prestigious theatre

The Ivan Vazov National Theatre is Bulgaria's national theatre and the oldest and most authoritative theatre in the country. Founded in 1904, it is named after the Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov. The current neoclassical building was completed in 1907 and is one of Sofia's architectural landmarks. The theatre presents classic and contemporary Bulgarian and international plays.
